With fillings, we make cavities pull a disappearing act, leaving your child’s smile as good as new.

Bye-Bye, Cavities. Hello, Healthy Smiles.
Cavities happen, but fixing them doesn’t have to be overwhelming. At PDS, our team makes the experience calm and positive. We treat decay with durable fillings that look natural. The filling material restores the strength and appearance of your child’s tooth—like the cavity was never even there!
What to Expect When Getting a Filling
Before getting started, your Spring pediatric dentist will explain the procedure in kid-friendly terms and demonstrate the instruments they’ll be using to put your child at ease. Your little one can even cuddle with one of our hypoallergenic comfort animals if they’d like. We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and sedation to help make your child’s experience a positive one.
Once your child is settled in with their favorite show playing on the TV, the pediatric dentist will carefully:
Numb the Area:
We numb the tooth and surrounding area with a local anesthetic. Our dentists are trained in the latest injection techniques, ensuring this step is as comfortable as possible.
Remove the Decay:
The doctor will remove all decay and thoroughly clean the area. This ensures the tooth is free of bacteria and debris, helping to prevent further decay.
Place the Filling:
The space left behind will be filled with tooth-colored filling material. The material is hardened with a curing light, and shaped and polished to look and feel just like a natural tooth.
01.
Blends with the Natural Tooth
The filling material is natural looking and will blend well with your child’s tooth.
02.
Safe for Growing Smiles
We use biocompatible filling materials that are safe for even the youngest patients.
03.
Restores Strength
The filling material bonds directly to the enamel, reinforcing the tooth and restoring its strength.
Are fillings safe for kids?
Absolutely! At PDS, we use high-quality, FDA-approved materials that are made in the USA, and our fillings are no exception. They are made of biocompatible materials that are safe and effective for kids of all ages.
How long do fillings last?
With good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, tooth-colored, composite fillings can last up to 10 years.
How will the dentist help my child be comfortable during the procedure?
We can put your child’s favorite show on TV and they can cuddle with a comfort animal. One of our skilled pediatric dentists will then numb your child’s tooth and the surrounding area with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. We also offer laughing gas and sedation, as needed.
What happens if a cavity in a baby tooth goes untreated?
Untreated cavities can lead to tooth pain, infections, or even damage to permanent teeth. Additionally, according to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), untreated dental problems, including tooth decay, are a significant cause of missed school days and have a negative impact on kids’ physical, social, and emotional well-being.
The earlier a cavity is treated, the less invasive, easier, and more affordable treatment will be.
